Ready. Set. Sell! 3 Tips to Help You Get Started.

The time has come—you’re ready to sell your home. Or are you ready? There are so many steps to the process and it can get overwhelming very quickly. To give you a bit of a head start, check out our top 3 tips for preparing to sell your property.

1. Interview Different Realtors and Find “The One”

First thing’s first: find a real estate agent who not only knows what they’re doing, but also one who suits your personality type and is aligned with your wants and needs. If out the gate you both have completely different communication styles or ideas on how to make your home stand out to buyers, they may not be the right fit for you. We love setting up consultation calls with new sellers, and most other agents do too. It ensures everyone’s on the same page from the get-go, and allows you to shop around to find your match made in (real estate) heaven.

2. Decide on a Timeline and Share it With Your Realtor

Be sure to write down some ideal sell-by dates, share them with your agent, and determine what’s realistic together. Give yourself plenty of time to account for home updates, unplanned maintenance, and unpredictability in the market.

3. Trust the Process

Selling a house should be thought of like a marathon, not a sprint. It’ll take time to get your home shining from top to bottom and interior to exterior. It’ll also take time to complete expert photography, develop and distribute marketing materials, list the property, and set up showings. Though all these tasks go hand in hand with the stress of selling, try your best to trust the process. If you’ve done your due diligence, chosen the right realtor for you, and put love and care into making your space presentable for prospective buyers, things tend to work out favourably in the end.
